AVP

Meet the Board of Directors

Terry Sands, Artistic Director
Terry started as Director of the AVP in 1990 with Free to Be…You and M, followed by Godspell and The Annisquam Follies, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Oliver!, The King & I, the 100th Anniversary of the Annisquam Follies, My Fair Lady, Anything Goes, Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Damn Yankees, West side Story, The Music Man, and Carousel. He played Friar Lawrence in this year’s reading of Romeo & Juliet at the Schubert Theatre in Boston. Judge Sands is Associate Justice in the Massachusetts Land Court in Boston, prior to which he practiced real estate law for 32 years. To keep in shape for the grueling summer rehearsal schedule, he runs the Boston Marathon each year for stamina. Terry would like to give kudos to this year’s excellent cast and crew and tell them how much he appreciates working with them.

Nancy Bornhofft, Board Member-at-Large
'Spose this should be more than a one liner ~~ tho I could write a book, remembering the year I had 10 members of my family, including an exchange student, either on stage or backstage, or on my porch, where Daughter Lisbeth put together paper mache palm trees for the 'South Pacific' set! Five grandchildren were in the cast.
As for me, formerly a classical pianist, in 1993, I was irresistibly persuaded by gr.dau. Betsy (Maria in 'Sound of Music' and Nellie Forbush in 'South Pacific') to try a new career as music director and/or pianist for 8 wonderfilled years of the best in musical theatre! I continue to enjoy as a cheerleader, and marvel at the achievement in professional quality of AVP productions, under Terry and Mary's direction, with outstanding on stage and backstage talent and commitment.

Mary Curtis, Co-Director
Although Mary is a published author of many novels, her main passion has always been theater. She majored in music and drama in school, and has played the lead in many musicals while part of the Dover Theater Group. She combined her writing and acting skills to collaborate in two musical comedies, Sweet Liberation and Nothing to Hyde, which were produced in Dover. She was their director for over a decade before moving to Annisquam. She has worked over a dozen years with Terry, a job she enjoys immensely! She will soon be embarking on a new adventure—self-publishing her newest novel.

Larry Cook, House Manager
Larry has been a member of the Annisquam Village Players since his first performance in An Italian Straw Hat in 1980.  Other AVP productions include Bye Bye Birdie, 40 Leonard Street, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Music Man Brigadoon and Kiss Me, Kate.

Jane Van Dyke Deering
Jane got the AVP bug back in 1993 when her two (then young) children joined the cast. Summers, she promotes contemporary art at the Jane Deering Gallery; winters, she is an art dealer in London with Purdy Hicks Gallery.

Linette French, Ticket Sales Co-ordinator

Vicki Godfrey
Vicki is excited to joing the board of the AVP. She brings her passion for both the Annisquam community and the theater. She is looking forward to The Sound of Music, it is one of her favorite shows!

Catherine Gunn, Publicity
When she isn't working on publicity for AVP, Catherine Gunn spends her time on stage. She has joined the cast for many shows, including My Fair Lady, Damn Yankees, West Side Story, and Brigadoon.

Joline Hentschel, Set Design Committee

Chicki Hollett, Set Designer
Chicki's first exposure to theatre was during visits to her sister on the Upper East Side in NYC. During the 50s, she went on many tours of clubs and shows in old New York. That experience qualified her to become Student Director of my high school production, Time Out for Ginger. Chicki has been onstage many times dancing in a variety of shows and has been backstage with the Players since The Sound of Music.

Pete Kovner, Board Member
Pete has played a whaler, teacher, butcher & gangster in Carousel, Brigadoon, Fiddler and Kiss Me Kate. However, his greatest pleasure comes, not on stage, but off. Joining the toddlers, teenaged, middle-aged and well-aged to create the raucous, supportive, inspirational cauldron of an AVP production, swirling from spring's nervous auditions through August's triumphant performances. This is a joy I wish everyone could experience at least once in their life. And they can!

Jill Lovejoy, Chair/Costume Committee
Jill’s has beencostume designer for AVP for several years. She started with the AVP in Free to Be You and Me; then followed with Sound of Music, South Pacific, Oliver!, Music Man, Carousel, and Brigadoon.

Stevie Neal, Treasurer & Programs

Bill Stone, Co-House Manager
Bill has been a regular on the stage with the AVP for 13 seasons and has run the gamut of characters. He is a board member of the AVP with responsibility as House Manager, and is also a Board Member of the Village Hall Association and has worked to achieve new theatrical lighting, video monitors, and an improved sound system.

Patsy Whitlock, Annisquam Village Hall Liaison

Gina Milne
Gina is excited to join the board of the AVP after serving as Assistant Stage Manager and Children's Coordinator over the past several years. She brings her excitement working with children and having them discover the fun of summer theater!
